Empire of the Rabbits is a childhood melancholy. This is the story of 12 year old Musa who lives with his father Beko in a very depressing home environment. Beko makes his living by providing rabbits to the greyhound races that take place in their village. Musa collects the rabbits after the races and he buries the dead ones, he heals the injured ones in an abandoned mine.

He has a life in this mine which is the only place where he feels like a child. One day Beko learns that the families of disabled children receive a salary from the state. He forces Musa to act like a disabled child, to convince the medical board and to go to the school for disabled children. A worse nightmare starts for Musa who will end up starting a rebellion that will rescue his childhood and his rabbits.—Seyfettin Tokmak
